I personally don't think that I would have paid the full sixty dollars on release for it, but I managed to get it at a good price on eBay so I am happy. Overall, though, this is a great game that I have already invested several hours into. It is one of those games that alternates between different units throughout the levels in the game, so be prepared to keep up with what's happening and to whom. The only other thing that I have to say is that the story is a bit difficult to follow. I literally had to replay this one individual part about 30 times before I finally got through. I would say there are roughly thirty enemies in the way of said objective, conveniently placed to play hell with your life, and all armed with guns that will kill you, on Regular difficulty, in about 4-5 shots. There was one level in particular, I forget the name, but you are trying to make a rendezvous with your evac chopper before the sandstorm hits, so you are given roughly two and half minutes to get to your objective. There are parts in this game where the immediate objective seems ridiculously simple, but you might spend an hour trying to get through one room because you keep dying over and over again. I started Black Ops on Veteran difficulty so I was somewhat expecting it there, but MW3 I decided to start on Regular. Great graphics, great sound design, great gameplay.Ĭons: I w ould say this with every COD game that I have played (just purchased MW2, sure I'm going to have the same issue) that some parts of this game are mindblowingly difficult, and shouldn't be. Varied gameplay is also nice, as the entire game doesn't revolve around storm-the-building type domination tactics-there are many different vehicle parts, specialized packages such as the ARC-130's, etc. Many people complain about the lack of new weapons from MW2 but having only played that for a few hours, this isn't something that bothers me too much. There seems to be a real sense of emergency at many of the scenes, very emotionally involving. Pros: Fantastic graphics, very fast paced. For reference, the only other two that I owned were Black Ops and World at War. I believe that my lack of too much history with the COD games allows me to go into this with a relative lack of bias, a clean slate, if you will. Very nice game, great campaign/multiplayer, challenging. An optional subscription service entitled "Call of Duty Elite" will allow players to track detailed statistics such as win-loss records, kill-death ratios, time played, most successful maps, favorite weapons, and much more. Popular features such as kill-streak awards, experience points, weapons-based achievements, and perks return, allowing you to customize your character as you progress. The heart of the game is once again the 18-player online component, which introduces all-new maps and a variety of enhancements to the format introduced in Modern Warfare 2. You'll also be able to earn bonuses by working together as a team and maintaining kill streaks. Shooting down enemies earns you cash, which can be used to purchase new perks, items, weapons, and other upgrades. New to Spec Ops is a survival option that has you and either a friend or a computer partner battling waves of enemy forces. Returning to the game is the cooperative Spec Ops mode that features a series of standalone missions on different maps. Other sequences have you firing mounted guns, driving vehicles, and more while explosions light up the landscape. You'll then fight inside an enemy-controlled submarine before guiding an inflatable raft across turbulent waters while a naval battle rages nearby. One new mission, for example, has you involved in underwater travel with a sonar-equipped submersible watercraft. You'll battle across war-torn areas of New York City, London, Paris, Mogadishu, Dubai, and other regions as you prepare to end the global threat once and for all.Īs with previous entries in the Call of Duty series, Modern Warfare 3's campaign features a heavily scripted, cinematic experience with Hollywood-style special effects. The single-player campaign has you battling Russian ultranationalists, led by Vladimir Markov, as members of the U.S. and British soil in a storyline that picks up where 2009's Modern Warfare 2 left off. Players must deal with the fallout from the devastating attacks on U.S. Activision Blizzard's top-selling first-person shooter franchise marches on with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
